Ho ho ho, Merry Christmas to you! December 2007

Ho ho ho! Merry Christmas! I'm getting pretty good at this whole mimicking thing and like to say ho ho ho in the spirit of the holidays. Speaking of ho ho ho, I had a really great Christmas morning. I especially liked playing with my great grandma and was wiped out by the time nap time rolled around. We played with each new toy and book that appeared from under the tree in our house. I unwrapped a few presents, but mostly just wanted to play with them as soon as I opened it. I also had a great Christmas because I got to see snow falling in our back yard. I kept asking great grandma what it was, it was just so fascinating.

This book shows how to get this thing off my head right? December 2007

These are pictures of me from last weekends jaunt around our neighborhood to look at Christmas lights and vote on our favorite house. I got to have a cookie. It's the least my parents could have done after this outfit! :)
"Hi dada!" is practically all I've been saying these last two days. I say it to mom all morning and she tries to correct me by saying something that I think is "Hi mama," but she's got it all wrong. So I continue to correct her:)

"Hi Baby!" December 2007

Instead of just saying plain old "hi" anymore, I've decided that it's more fun to say "hi baby" all the time. I say it to mom and dad, or just because I feel like saying it. And just yesterday I learned that I'm going to have a baby sister in April. So I'm glad that I can say hi to her when she arrives. Great grandma says that she looks like me already, so I'll probably be able to recognize her:)

Santa Train - December 2007

Here are some pictures of me from my trip on the Santa Train last Saturday. I took a train ride to see Santa and had hot cocoa and cookies that were made on a real train car. Then I drove home later that day in a couple of inches of snow.

I'm thankful for my family - November 2007

I had a great Thanksgiving in Portland. I visted with the Campbell clan and got to know Cubby, their Airedale Terrier, a little better. I mostly liked her the best when she was on the other side of the sliding door. I also got to hang out with my cousins Ailee and baby Finley. I enjoyed Ailee's hugs and playing with all of their toys. And their dog Avery was my favorite when she was outside. Dogs scare me when they get too close. They're just so big. But I'm sure that I'll beg my parents for one when I get older:)

Da da! - November 2007

"Da da," "hi," "hot," and "plop (roughly)" are the words that I can say now at my age. Sometimes they make people laugh when I say them at certain times, but I haven't quite figured out why yet. So last night when dad was giving me my bath, mom asked me why I was so cute and I said "da da!" and they both thought that was really funny.

Little Lady - October 2007

Lady bug that is. That is what mom and dad decided to dress me up as for Halloween this year. Mom also thought I'd look cute with some real pony tails and I daresay that I think she's right.

I should also let you know that I officially know the proper proceedure for putting on chapstick. Dad taught me how to do it tonight because I was chewing on it. He thought I should know how to really use it. I see mom do it all the time, but she never lets me try it on. I puckered up just like dad showed me and then I smacked my lips together, just once, just like dad.

Quick Learner - October 2007

Mom and dad caught me doing a little reading up for future conversations with them (as seen in the picture above).

I got my very first hairdo. Since my hair is getting long enough for pony tails, mom decided to give me some, but they turned out to be super cute horn nodules instead.

What else I've been up to...

Lately, right before bedtime, I automatically take out my binky and hand it to dad because I know he's coming to take me to my bath.

Also, today was a day of firsts for me. Today I held the phone up to my ear for the first time and said hello. Today was also the first time that I crawled up my slide and slid down all by myself.

Baby Steps - September 2007

I'm walking! I took my first steps this last Monday. I took 3 steps to get from a toy to the coffee table. My mom scared me after I did it because she was so excited. I'm still doing a lot of falling on the bum as I perfect this technique, but I like being able to move around more on my own. I'm still saying "hi" a lot. Just today we went to get burgers for lunch and I said hello to practically everyone that walked by. I didn't want to miss anyone. I also say google google google or giggle giggle giggle as the case may be when someone prompts me to say it. And my high five skills are pretty impressive these days too. That's all for now. 'Til next time...

Round and Round and Round it goes...Where it Stops... August 2007

I'm really excited for my first birthday tomorrow. Mostly for the chocolate cake.

Anyway, today my dad thought it would be fun to spin me around in the computer chair. After that, the next couple of times that I sat down, I thought it would be fun to try and repeat the thrilling experience by rotating myself around on the floor. But I soon realized that it just wasn't quite the same. Today I also decided to play peekaboo with the people that I saw outside from my bedroom window. I don't know why they didn't play back, but I might try it again:) Pictured here I am giving a power snuggle to my green bear and I'm kissing my reflection in the fireplace molding.

My First Word? - August 2007

Hi everyone. My mom seems convinced that my first word has been "hi!" I suprised her last week when I said it to the store clerk. Now I practice it on my friends and family. I think it's some sort of salutation. That's what I learned anyway from what my dad teaches me when we read together.

Toothless Wonder No More - July 2007

My first tooth finally cut through today. This picture is of me teething a few days ago on a drinking glass in preparation for my big tooth cutting today. I much prefer adult things, like drinking glasses, over those sippy cup contraptions.

What's Next, The Cookie Jar? - July 2007

I know that it's been a while since my last blog, so here's the latest update. I started to try out this crawling business that everyone keeps talking about on the same day that Grammy McReynolds had her birthday. I thought it would be a nice gift for her since my parents don't give me an allowance yet. I'm still perfecting it. Grammy McReynolds also visited me this past week and she taught me how to get into things when mommy wasn't looking (hence the photo). I've been teasing my parents that I'm going to get teeth soon, but I'm still a toothless wonder. And I've been to my first wedding...congrats Amy & Brian!

Swimming SUITS Me - June 2007

I went swimming today for the first time! Mom took me to the Mountlake Terrace Rec center where they have two kiddie pools. At first I wasn't quite thrilled at the prospect of swimming. But I soon got used to the splashing and screaming kids and decided to join in. My floatie swimsuit that grandma got for me was great for just lounging around. After 2 hours, 5 mouthfulls of water, and all the kicking and splashing that I could muster, we called it a day. Bath time tonight just won't be the same.

Sunshine On My Shoulder Makes Me Happy - May 2007

I went to Edmonds beach today with some friends of my moms and soaked in some reading and a few rays. Since I was at the beach, I thought it was only appropriate to read my "What Floats" book.

Celebrity Sightings - May 2007

I heard local Bothell American Idol star Blake Lewis was in town, so I begged my parents to take me to see him. My mean parents always put me to bed before American Idol even comes on, so I never get a chance to see it live, or to vote. These are the tragedies of my life. Occasionally I do sneak a viewing on the DVR while my mom showers, but I don't always get a chance. Anyway, he was decent live, but there were way too many super tall people at the performance, so it was really hard to see him. Fortunately for me though, my mom was standing by the corner with me right as his motorcade was pulling into the venue, so I got one good look at him before the show started. He was pretty entertaining, and the weather was really nice, so I didn't really mind riding around in my stroller to see him. Anyway, it was pretty cool to see some celebrities. I also saw Matt Hasselbeck, the Seahawks QB, at the show. I'll sign off for now, because it is almost time for my bath.

It's Not So Bad - May 2007

Here I am with my fellow 5K-ers. Misty and Lindley (from left to right in the picture) are former classmates of my dad at UW Bothell. I did my first 5K today and I don't know what people complain about because I fell asleep a few minutes into it and I still finished it in 53 minutes and there were still a lot of people behind me. I mean, I wasn't even trying very hard.

Rock and ROLL! - April 2007

I woke up this morning and thought that I'd mix things up a bit. I've had it with only being able to sit up a bit and roll over from my tummy to my back. So today I was reaching for my pacifier and I just rolled over to get it from my back. I also rolled over from my left side on my belly to my back which I haven't done before. And lately, while sitting up, I like to rock back and forth, using my rock hard abs of course. Look out mom and dad...one for the money, two for the show, three to get ready, then roll roll roll! I'm not slowing down any time soon. It's the other end of the room or bust!

Mirror Mirror On The Wall... - April 2007

Who's the fairest? Ba...ba...ba! I've recently discovered how hillarious I am when I look into my bathroom mirrors at myself and my mom and say "ba ba ba." I really feel like I might finally be getting through to these grownups with my 'goo'ing and 'baa'ing abilities. Just today I said "Ba ma da!" and they finally realized that it translated to: my cousin Finley keeps telling me how much she likes to blog, so I thought I'd give this whole blog thing a shot. Maybe tomorrow I'll walk on the moon. Maybe later. That one's for you Ailee:)
